OUR FOUNDER ELISA

Our founder, taster, procurer, and entrepreneur extraordinaire is Elisabeth Rasoanantenaina.

 

After her fashion career took her to the world’s capitols, Elisa decided to go back to her family roots in the vanilla trade.

​

For several generations, Elisa’s extended family has cultivated vanilla orchids for harvest in the forests and fields of Ambodidvaine, Madagascar. As a young girl it was her responsibility to tend the sensitive, fickle, and difficult-to-grow vines.

​

Over the years, Elisa’s father Razafindrazaka, her uncles Rakoto Daniel and Razafindratrera, and cousins Rakotoson Alain and Razafindratrera Cyril taught her everything about the selection, cultivation, care, and especially the family curing and drying recipes that ensure that the very best qualities of each vanilla variety are developed and expressed.
